House Republicans just passed a bill that could make voting nearly impossible for millions of Americans. It’s called the SAVE Act — and it’s one of the most extreme attacks on voting rights we’ve seen in years.
The SAVE Act is a direct attack on millions of eligible voters. It would end online voter registration, registration by mail, and even voter registration drives. Most troubling of all, it requires every voter to prove their citizenship with passports or birth certificates in order to exercise their right to vote. Republicans know over 140 million Americans don’t have a passport, and 69 million women don’t have a birth certificate matching their legal name. Our efforts to engage and mobilize voters have never been more important, and with critical Special Elections coming up here in the Peach State, we can’t afford to take any chances.
