Last month, the Office of the Comptroller released a report on transit, marking the first in a series of reports that examine and explain state spending.
The report series will focus on the lessons we’ve learned both nationally and globally, focusing on what drives costs in critical infrastructure and other public goods necessary for economic expansion.
The Transit Costs report assesses research and best practices by studying the Purple Line project in Montgomery and Prince George’s County. While we’ve identified some challenges, including uncertainty around federal funding, we also highlight solutions, such as strong coordination between stakeholders and design standardization, to avoid incurring additional costs.
