Yesterday, while you were asleep, your City Council worked a shift with the women and men of DPW.

Our City Council has been fighting for our Department of Public Works solid waste workers for years. We've hosted important oversight hearings and worked directly with the agency to advocate for worker safety.

But oversight means more when you join the workers on the truck. We struggled to keep up as workers ran alongside the truck, collecting recycling in Little Italy and surrounding neighborhoods.

Sanitation is one of the hardest, most dangerous jobs in America. The maximum a sanitation worker can earn for the care they show our city is less than $45,000.

We need to change that. Your City Council will fight to make it happen.
