Trump administration backs down on student visa terminations, restores them
Facing mounting courtroom losses over student visa revocations, the Trump Justice Department announced that it was backing down and would manually restore many student visas while it developed new policy guidelines for their removal. The surprise reversal came after thousands of foreign students had their immigration records abruptly terminated in the federal system that keeps track of them, which is maintained by ICE. The terminations meant that the students were suddenly vulnerable to deportation, with some unable to figure out what they had done wrong. Some of the students appeared to be flagged for participation in pro-Palestine demonstrations while others had minor legal infractions on their records, many of which had been thrown out. The about-face marks an unexpected — and welcomed — defeat in Donald Trump’s fascistic war on immigration.

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump caves again in humiliating new update
First Donald blinked in his bone-headed trade war with China, now he's giving Vladimir Putin everything on the dictator's wish list in a so-called "peace plan" to end Russia's war against Ukraine. The MAGA cult leader loves caving so much, someone should get him some rope and a head lamp.

Vulnerable GOP Trump-enabler Susan Collins has a Democratic challenger
Jordan for Maine: Susan Collins is wringing her hands over Trump’s destruction of our Constitution. She says she’s “concerned” but does nothing to stop him. She even voted against his impeachment because, in her words, he had “learned his lesson.” Obviously he hasn’t, but that hasn’t stopped her from looking the other way while he pillages our government. We’ve got a chance to replace Susan Collins and take back the Senate. Democrat Jordan Wood announced he’s running against her to do just that. Jordan’s a fighter who won’t take a DIME of corporate PAC money, so he needs our grassroots support. Will you chip in to help Jordan Wood flip the Senate and defeat Susan Collins?

He's going to try run again, folks, and there are few signs the spineless ghouls in the Republican Party have any appetite to stand in his way.
Disgraced lawmaker and 11-time pickleball world champion George Santos sentenced to seven years in jail for fraud and identity theft
Justice finally came calling for former Republican Congressman and professional pathological liar George Santos, who will spend 87 months in federal prison for what prosecutors described as "unparalleled crimes" of fraud, theft, and deception. Santos put on a show for the judge prior to sentencing, pleading for mercy and admitting he'd "betrayed the confidence" of his constituents. US District Judge Joanna Seybert was clearly unmoved, asking the serial fraudster — who literally launched a podcast late last year called "Pants on Fire with George Santos" — "Where's the remorse?" Perhaps the con man will have the time to ponder a proper answer from his federal prison cell over the next seven-plus years. Get your Cameos in now, folks! He ain't gonna be filming much from behind bars.

Trump stuns Time Magazine with outlandish claim when they confront him on zero trade deals
The wannabe dictator drew a double-take from his Time Magazine interviewers with an outlandish claim when they challenged him for not having announced a single trade deal since his disastrous tariff rollout. When confronted with the fact that, since upending the world economy with draconian tariffs on allies and uninhabited islands like, there have been "zero deals" announced so far, the MAGA cult leader responded: "I've made 200 deals." Seriously. 200?! When are we going to hear about these masterfully negotiated agreements, and when will we see their magical effects on the prices of everyday goods?!
North Dakota Republican governor strikes down GOP bill restricting books for minors
North Dakota Republican Gov. Kelly Armstrong blocked a bill that would have required libraries to put books that reportedly feature explicit or obscene material in areas that are "not easily accessible" to minors. The bill, which would have applied to public libraries and libraries at public schools, also threatens prosecution against those that don't comply. "While I recognize the concerns that led to its introduction, Senate Bill 2307 represents a misguided attempt to legislate morality through overreach and censorship," Armstrong wrote in a Tuesday letter explaining his decision. "The bill imposes vague and punitive burdens on professionals and opens the door to a host of unintended and damaging consequences for our communities." He continued, "In the last 10 years, The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank, Of Mice and Men, Slaughterhouse-Five, The Kite Runner, 1984, and To Kill a Mockingbird have all been targeted by obscenity laws.vI don't pretend to know what the next literary masterpiece is going to be. But I want it available in the library. And if a parent doesn't think it is age-appropriate for their child, then that is a parenting decision. It does not require a whole-of-government approach and $ 1.1 million of taxpayer money." Will Armstrong be applauded by members of his own party for his common-sense approach to constitutionally protected free speech? Or will he be run out of town like some sort of debaucherous pariah whose primary mission is clearly to poison the minds of young people and turn them into lecherous reprobates? Why do we get the feeling like this will turn sideways?

Pete Hegseth’s controversial chief of staff leaves post unexpectedly
Despite assurances from the beleaguered Defense secretary just days ago in a TV appearance on Fox & Friends that Joe Kasper would merely transition to "a slightly different role" within the department, the controversial chief of staff has abruptly left his post. The unceremonious exit comes after Kasper was implicated as the orchestrator of a power grab that led to the dismissal of three senior Pentagon officials — Dan Caldwell, Darin Selnick, and Colin Carroll — allegedly as part of a leak investigation. The administration’s first hundred days created a troubled tenure for Kasper, with anonymous sources claiming he was frequently late to meetings, failed to follow through on critical tasks, and displayed inappropriate behavior, including berating officials and making crude comments allegedly about his bowel movements during high-level meetings. Definitely yet another good sign for Hegseth's future at the Pentagon and in no way a troubling indicator of just how woefully ill-equipped the former TV personality is to handle the job before him.
