Dear friend,
Let me make one thing clear: I’m no Johnny-Come-Lately Democrat. I’ve been here, fighting for the values that matter most to Virginians long before it was trendy or politically convenient. I didn’t just show up when the headlines were easy, or when the winds were favorable. I’ve been on the front lines, advocating for our communities, our workers, and our families every step of the way.
I've spent the last two decades in the trenches, working hard for the Democratic Party. From knocking on doors in red areas to spreading critical voter information where others wouldn't go, to serving as the first African American Secretary of the Commonwealth of Virginia, where I helped restore voting rights for nearly 200,000 disenfranchised Virginians—more than the previous seven administrations combined. As Richmond’s youngest elected Mayor, my proudest achievement was leading the effort to remove all of Richmond's Confederate monuments. I worked tirelessly to transform Richmond from the Capital of the Confederacy to the Capital of Compassion, focusing on investing in our communities, our workers, and our children.
While others may jump on the latest trend or change their stance when it’s convenient, I’m here for the long haul. I believe in real, lasting change that lifts up all Virginians, not just a select few. I’ve always shown up for Virginians, and I won’t stop. That’s why I need your help to keep this fight going. Can you donate $20 right now to help us spread our message of a Virginia where everyone has a fair shot at success?
