This Earth Month, I’m reminded that justice and sustainability go hand in hand. At Dream.Org, we’re not just advocating for a healthier planet–we’re advocating for a healthier society.

We brought community leaders together to meet with lawmakers virtually and in Washington, DC for our Public Health is Public Safety Lobby Day to defend Medicaid, push for second chances, and protect healthcare for all.

In Pittsburgh, we gathered innovators and local officials to build pathways for 1,000 green jobs. The clean energy transition must include everyone, especially those that have been left out for too long. 

Progress is possible, but only if we keep showing up for our communities and our planet.

On April 9th, Dream.Org ambassadors, campaign leaders within our network, and staff met with elected officials from all over the country in virtual meetings and on The Hill in DC to advocate in support of our 2025 Public Health is Public Safety Lobby Day Platform.

This included defending Medicaid to ensure healthcare access for millions and pushing for legislation that would clear people’s federal records to help them successfully reenter society, protecting the healthcare rights of people in pretrial detention and other people incarcerated shortly before release, and preventing housing discrimination for formerly incarcerated individuals. 

This Earth Month, we’re standing up for the clean energy progress that’s creating jobs, cutting pollution, and making energy more affordable across the country. But right now, some in Congress are trying to roll back our green jobs, putting our future at risk. A few lawmakers are speaking up, but many are still on the fence. Your voice could be the push they need. Don’t let them roll back our progress — tell your lawmakers to protect our clean energy future.

Dream.Org partnered with Dr. Kala Fleming—a member of our Dream Entrepreneurs Network and founder of Frontline Gig—to host a green jobs convening in Pittsburgh. The event brought together local leaders, including Councilman Khari Mosley, Carnegie Mellon’s Azadeh Sawyer, Landforce, and Sustainable Pittsburgh, to address workforce gaps in the green economy. 

Dr. Fleming showcased how her AI-driven platform assists jobseekers in overcoming application barriers and connecting to training. Together, we’re working to place 1,000 Pittsburghers into green roles—and building a more inclusive workforce from the ground up.
