Governor Champions Bill to Cut Red Tape for Housing, Reduce Prices
“Families struggling with the high cost of housing are forced to make impossible choices – between staying in the communities they love and finding a place they can afford. This affordability crisis deepens our homelessness crisis,” Governor Kotek said. “It demands creative, practical solutions to increase the supply of homes quickly. We have to cut red tape and get out of our own way. Pre-approved building plans just makes sense.”
Oregon launches Housing 360 to tackle homelessness and mental health
Governor Kotek emphasized the importance of meeting individuals where they are to transition them from homelessness to stable housing. "To help every Oregonian go from living on the street into stable housing, we need to meet them where they are," she said. "We know that mental health challenges can stand in the way of people getting the care and housing they need. These projects will help us save lives now and make sure we get the details right into the future."
State seeks to protect students from bullying, discrimination or harassment over race, nationality or immigration status
“Every student in Oregon deserves to learn in an environment free from bullying, harassment, and discrimination – regardless of their race, national origin, or immigration status,” Governor Kotek said. “This guidance provides Oregon schools with the tools to protect students and sends a clear message to Oregonians that all are welcome in our classrooms.”
Governor Kotek Visits Harney County to Survey Historic Flooding, Commits to Fighting for Recovery Resources
“I’m heartbroken to see the devastation in this community. While the flood waters are receding, the recovery is just beginning. And it’s a long game,” Governor Kotek said. “People on the ground here are inspiring. The volunteers I met with – whether with the Red Cross, faith groups, the tribe, or neighbors looking out for one another – have been working in tough conditions and need all the help they can get. I want this entire community to know I am resolved to fight for every federal and state recovery dollar I can.”
Governor Kotek Attends Ceremony Breaking Ground on Portland’s New WNBA Team Training Facility

“There’s no team name just yet, but the expansion Portland WNBA team broke ground Tuesday on the training facility it will share with the Thorns of the National Women’s Soccer League. The $150 million project set to be built west of Portland is the first such alliance between the two women’s leagues. Among those at the ceremony were NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman, U.S. Senator Ron Wyden and Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek. The new training facility will repurpose buildings once owned by Nike.”
