I was back in Rochester this week, continuing my fight against the Trump administration’s dangerous actions. As top Democrat on the Committee on House Administration, I’ve been speaking out against the SAVE Act, which would disenfranchise millions of Americans, and President Trump’s Executive Order on Elections. Here at home, I convened a group of community leaders to talk about the consequences of the SAVE Act and discuss how I’m using my leadership role to defend our democracy.

The Trump administration continues to pursue a dangerous trade war, creating an uncertain stock market and leaving small businesses right here in Rochester vulnerable. I’m cosponsoring the Prevent Tariff Abuse Act to protect our businesses and ensure our economy’s stability.

How We're Fighting Back

As a parent and a grandparent, I’m deeply troubled by the Trump administration’s dangerous vaccine skepticism. Far too many families are being misled by disinformation campaigns that erode public trust in science.

It’s been over 20 years—2003, to be exact—since a child in our country died from measles. At just four months into this year, two children have already died.

This week, I joined community health leaders and experts in a call to push back against disinformation, reaffirm our commitment to science, and ensure families have the support they need to keep their children safe.

Vaccination rates remain far below what’s needed to ensure herd immunity, and when vaccination rates fall, the risk rises for all of us. Our children’s future depends on the choices we make today—whether we stand with our doctors and our neighbors, and for the health of our kids.

Connecting With Older Americans

It was great to be with seniors from the St. Ann’s Living Community for an important conversation on what’s happening in Washington and how I’m working to protect their hard-earned benefits and financial security—particularly Social Security and Medicare.

As the Trump administration puts these vital services at risk, I’m fighting to make sure older Americans can age with dignity and security by supporting legislation to strengthen Social Security and ensure it remains solvent, and bring down healthcare costs through drug price negotiation for high-cost medications.

Supporting Monroe County's Leaders in Education

I joined my friends at Monroe Community College this week for the groundbreaking of their new Advanced Technologies Center.

This building will help make sure students have the skills they need to thrive—skills that will ultimately drive our economy and benefit our community. I was proud to have secured $3.5 million in federal funding to help make this project a reality, and I will continue to push for federal investment to support important educational opportunities like this.

Celebrating the History of Rochester's Artistic Community

The Rochester Community Players Theater Group is celebrating their 100^th season! For a full century, this group has been a cornerstone of Rochester’s artistic community, and I was grateful for the opportunity to celebrate their legacy with an entry into the Congressional Record.

I stopped by this week to meet the talented individuals who carry this legacy forward and present them with the Congressional Record.
