As a parent and a grandparent, I’m deeply troubled by the Trump administration’s dangerous vaccine skepticism. Far too many families are being misled by disinformation campaigns that erode public trust in science.
It’s been over 20 years—2003, to be exact—since a child in our country died from measles. At just four months into this year, two children have already died.
This week, I joined community health leaders and experts in a call to push back against disinformation, reaffirm our commitment to science, and ensure families have the support they need to keep their children safe.
Vaccination rates remain far below what’s needed to ensure herd immunity, and when vaccination rates fall, the risk rises for all of us. Our children’s future depends on the choices we make today—whether we stand with our doctors and our neighbors, and for the health of our kids.
