This past Monday, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend and read a children’s book to families at the 2025 White House Easter Egg Roll. The event was beautiful and joyful as Americans gathered at the White House to celebrate Easter. I was honored to be a part of this longstanding tradition. The highlight of the event for me was reading “Peter Rabbit” to the gathered families. I hope each of you enjoyed a blessed and peaceful Easter.

Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative

On Tuesday, I toured the Baylor Research and Innovation Collaborative (BRIC) at Baylor University. The facility is home to groundbreaking research, putting TX-17 at the forefront of technological advancement. I had the chance to see projects focused on enhancing battlefield communication and improving military training methods. These innovations will greatly benefit our armed forces and national security. I am proud of the role Baylor University and our district play in driving defense innovation.

On Wednesday, I toured Knauf McGregor, a leading insulation manufacturing plant in McGregor, Texas. I was impressed by the manufacturing technology, strong commitment to safety, and dedicated workforce. Knauf’s operations exemplify the finest of American manufacturing. By investing in safe practices and local jobs, they are boosting both our economy and community. I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the production process and community impact of Knauf.

MCC Emergency Services Education Center

Wednesday morning, I visited the Emergency Services Education Center at McLennan Community College. MCC is playing a critical role in training the next generation of first responders in all of Texas. Their programs in paramedicine/EMS, law enforcement, criminal justice, and firefighting are shaping highly skilled professionals. I had the opportunity to speak to fire academy students and share my gratitude for the essential role they play in our community. I am inspired by MCC’s committed investment in workforce development in Central Texas.

Doris Miller Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center

Later this week, I had the privilege of visiting the Doris Miller Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Waco. This facility is doing vital work in supporting our veterans, from mental health services to transitional care. Top-of-the-line medical equipment is available for research and practice at the Doris Miller VA. I was especially impressed by their research into PTSD treatment and the programs designed to help veterans reintegrate into civilian life. The level of care and expertise here is truly commendable. The Doris Miller VA in Waco has been active for nearly 100 years, playing an essential role in supporting the veterans in our community. I am grateful for the work carried out here and will continue to remain close with those that support our veterans.

MGM and VanTran Transformers

On Thursday, I enjoyed being at the grand opening of the new 430,000 square foot MGM and VanTran Transformers manufacturing facility in Waco. This expansion marks a $30 million investment in our local economy and the future of energy technology. I was glad to join CEO Doug Banty and the team in celebrating their achievements and vision. The new facility will create high-paying jobs and foster innovation in the energy sector. It’s an exciting development that reinforces TX-17 as a hub for advanced manufacturing. I look forward to seeing the positive impact this brings to our community.
