Email from Rep. Van Duyne I joined my Texas colleagues in urging NASA to relocate their headquarters to Houston Irving, TX– Hope you and your families had a great Easter Sunday! Earlier this week I was honored to recognize Shawn Morgan for his incredible service to our country with the 2024 Congressional Veteran Commendation. It was also great to see our friend from the Wounded Warrior Project, Ben Watkins. Recently I had the opportunity to meet with Joint Strategic Technologies, a veteran-founded small business based in North Texas. We had a great conversation about improving the efficiency of government acquisitions, and how small businesses can play a bigger role in supporting our military. Had a wonderful visit to OWL’s new Technical Operations and Training Center, in collaboration with EVgo. This impressive facility is helping train both new and experienced workers for careers in EV infrastructure through hands-on and virtual programs. The perfect example of how innovation and workforce development go hand in hand right here in our community! Later in the week, I had the opportunity to meet with former Hometown Hero, Katie Simpson and her husband Chuck! It was great to be able to thank her for her contributions to our North Texas community in person! I had the opportunity to meet with M Financial and learn how they’re helping families in Texas-24 protect their futures through life insurance and financial planning. Their support for smaller firms is making a real difference in our local communities. It was great to meet with the Tanzanian American Chamber of Commerce, who recently moved their U.S. headquarters to Dallas. We had a great discussion about strengthening the economic ties between our countries, and how North Texas can play a key role in that partnership. Texas-24 Work of the Week I joined my Texas colleagues in urging NASA to move its headquarters out of the bureaucracy and to the birthplace of human space exploration, Houston, the city that’s been at the center of America’s space program from the very beginning. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Dallas’ new Chief of Police, Daniel Comeaux, a proven leader with 33 years of service. Welcome to North Texas, Chief! Telephone Town Hall I’m hosting a telephone town hall on Monday, April 28 at 6:30pm CT to connect with thousands of North Texans, answer questions about issues you care about, and provide important updates about my work in Washington.
