A Message from Gabe:
Greetings Rhode Islanders,
This week, I continued sounding the alarm on the sky-high cost of living we are seeing under Donald Trump's policies. I visited the West End Community Center in Providence — a critical lifeline for the community to see speak directly with Rhode Islanders suffering from Trump and his Republican allies' policies which have not brought down prices. What I heard was families are being squeezed at every turn — at the grocery store, the gas station, and at home.

Instead of easing the burden on working people, Republican policies are sprinting towards the largest Medicaid cut ever and slashing funding for vital food assistance programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Combined with Trump's reckless policies leading to a trade war — which is hiking prices on basic necessities, Republican policies are raising costs while eliminating programs that help Americans.
Congressman Gabe Amo speaks with children in the early education programs at West End Community Center.
In Congress, I’ve fought tooth and nail to prevent these cuts — introducing and supporting amendments to protect SNAP and support Medicaid and calling out these attacks on the House floor. We cannot mince words. Proposals to slash Medicaid and SNAP are dangerous, immoral, and completely disconnected from the needs of our communities.
As West End Community Center celebrates its 50th year of dedicated service, I was grateful to show my support for their work to feed, educate, and support our community. They represent the best values of Rhode Island — and I'll keep doing everything I can in Washington to ensure they have the resources and support they need.
Sincerely, |
 |
Gabe Amo |

Are you concerned that President Trump’s trade policies are increasing the cost of groceries, gas, and other essentials? |

Every day, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) works to protect American lives, livelihoods, and property. Trump’s proposal to slash NOAAs budget and shut down its climate research is a massive self-inflicted wound.
On Earth Day, I led a letter with my colleagues on the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology to pressure the Trump administration to abandon this dangerous plan. |

On Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, I was honored to join the community in Pawtucket to both reflect on the loss of life starting 110 years ago and recognize the resilience of the local Armenians that rose in the aftermath of tragedy. |

100 days since Trump took office, all we have seen is chaotic and confusing policies.
Worse still, his Republican allies are trying to pass a bill which would result in the largest cut to Medicaid ever — threatening the health care for working class families, expecting and new mothers, nursing home residents, and Rhode Islanders with disabilities.
Together with Senator Jack Reed, Senator Whitehouse, and Representative Seth Magaziner, I am working to protect our community from these devastating cuts.

Thank you to the Brown Political Union for inviting me to share my thoughts on Trump’s policies of chaos and confusion.
In Congress, I am fighting to defend higher education institutions from Trump’s policies towards federal funding and academic freedom. |

Alongside my delegation colleagues, I joined Meeting Street and Children’s Friend Rhode Island to discuss the importance of investing in maternal, infant, and early childhood health and bringing down the cost of living for Rhode Islanders. When families thrive, we all thrive. |

Thank you to the League of Women Voters of Rhode Island and every Rhode Islander who showed up to engage with their federal elected officials.
I will continue to work with Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse to hold Trump accountable and uplift the lives of Rhode Islanders in Congress. |

This week, the Rhode Island congressional delegation recognized Rhode Island College and its new designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.
As we work to combat the growing threat of cyberattacks, I am excited for the work RIC is leading to make Rhode Island the premier training ground for the cybersecurity experts of tomorrow.

I was grateful to participate in Easter events with Mayor Rivera and friends in Central Falls, as well as Councilwoman Coderre and Mayor Grebien in Pawtucket!
In Congress, I am a strong supporter of increased partnership between federal and local governments to ensure that constituent needs are being met. |

In Congress, I am fighting for Rhode Island's youth and working to improve the lives of children alongside organizations like Community Angels. On Easter and every day, I am proud to support an expanded Child Tax Credit and full funding for Medicaid, which covers more than 40% of children in our state.
