Dear Friend,
It’s NFL Draft week in Green Bay, but Governor Tony Evers is stealing headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Not only did he embarrass Wisconsin with his attempt at “trying” to throw a football, but his administration also issued guidance this week instructing state employees not to cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The memo advises workers to avoid answering ICE agents’ questions, including even when they present a warrant.
Why is the Evers’ administration shielding illegal aliens from the law?
After hearing about this memo, I alerted the Department of Justice to investigate this matter. Anyone aiding illegal aliens in evading arrest should face consequences. You can watch my interview with Dan O’Donnell about this here.
This leads me to my next story. It was reported this week that Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan allegedly helped an illegal alien defendant evade ICE agents in her courtroom.
Yes, you read that right – Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected agents from arresting Eduardo Flores Ruiz.
Which isn’t even the craziest story this week. It was also reported that a Democrat judge in New Mexico was housing a Tren de Aragua gang member.
While both judges have been arrested (learn more here and here), I’m not sure why Democrats are so obsessed with protecting illegal aliens and even criminal gang members. As we saw last week, they will even spend taxpayer dollars to fly to El Salvador to try to bring back an MS-13 gang member who was deported to his home country.
Federal law is clear: illegal aliens should be deported. The Trump administration is upholding this standard – one the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations used regularly.
Thanks again for starting off your weekend with us! We hope you enjoy this week’s edition of the Tiffany Telegram.
Sincerely,
Tom Tiffany Member of Congress
This year, we have returned a total of $4 million back to constituents.
Money back in your hands
Just this week, we returned $1.8 million to constituents in casework, including helping a Wausau area veteran recover thousands in overdue back pay from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense. A local business also contacted our office needing assistance with EIN verification and Employee Retention Credits (ERC) for six quarters between 2020 and 2021. We were able to help them get placed on a priority list, and as of this week, they have received their ERC for all six quarters, totaling over $800,000. Additionally, it was announced last week that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is providing relief to small businesses in Wisconsin that sustained economic losses. Numerous counties in the Seventh District are eligible for Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program aid. Click here to learn more. If you need assistance applying for an EIDL or with a federal agency, please call my office at (715) 298-9344 or visit my website here.
Steps to lower drug prices
Prescription drug prices have long strained the budgets of hardworking Americans. Last week, President Donald J. Trump signed an executive order to change that with his plans to reduce costs and restore affordability. The plan targets the complex and often unclear drug pricing system, especially the roles of middlemen like pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). It pushes to reintroduce transparency, competition, and efficiency into Medicare. By prioritizing low-cost generics and biosimilars, which can be up to 80% cheaper than brand-name drugs, the order ensures individuals won't have to choose between essentials and their health, with some insulin costs reduced to as little as $0.03 and epinephrine to just $15, plus a minimal fee. President Trump's executive order calls out what's been happening under the Biden administration's Inflation Reduction Act. Prescription drug savings were promised, but Americans got higher premiums, reduced options, and a system rigged in favor of insurers. Americans are being charged more than patients overseas for the same medications, sometimes made in the same factories, and this order says enough is enough.
Speeding up permitting
On Wednesday, the Department of the Interior announced new permitting procedures to expedite critical energy projects in response to the National Energy Emergency President Trump declared on January 20th. Permitting delays have long hindered U.S. infrastructure development, with projects like mineral extraction taking an average of 29 years from discovery to production. This is completely unacceptable as other countries benefit from building faster and quicker than the U.S. These new rules slash multi-year reviews to a maximum of 28 days, covering oil, natural gas, coal, uranium, geothermal, hydropower, and critical minerals. This action reflects the administration’s “all-of-the-above” strategy to bolster domestic energy production, strengthen the economy, and enhance national security. Now, Congress must get to work to codify this and other important reforms we’ve seen in the last few months into law. If we want to make made-in-America goods, it starts with reforming the permitting process.
China, WTO alliance a “Shark Tank” for U.S. workers
Before the Easter holiday, we told you about my plans to withdraw the United States from the World Trade Organization (WTO). For those of you who don’t know, the WTO is the international trade version of the scandal-plagued World Health Organization – which I’ve also gone toe-to-toe with. Like the United Nations-affiliated WHO, the globalist WTO regularly carries water for Communist China. For too long, the WTO has ignored Communist China’s unfair trade practices, human rights abuses, and shocking use of slave labor – harming American farmers, fishermen, and manufacturers and eroding our national sovereignty. It’s a problem President Trump recently spoke about, and one we urgently need to solve. This week, businessman and entrepreneur Kevin O’Leary – who you may know from ABC’s Shark Tank – weighed in on the topic, pointing out how China routinely cheats at trade while the WTO looks the other way. You can see what “Mr. Wonderful” had to say here. The bottom line is: American trade policies should be crafted by American officials who are elected by American voters and accountable to American families – not dictated by unelected international bureaucrats in Geneva. You can read more about how I’m taking on the issue here, and check out my simple legislation to restore America’s trade “independence” by getting us out of the WTO here.
