Governor Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions 

 

LANSING, Mich. — Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the appointment of the new State Fire Marshal as well as the following boards and commissions: Michigan Gaming Control Board; State Tax Commission; Certificate of Need Commission; Early Childhood Investment Corporation Executive Committee; Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority Board of Commissioners; Crime Victim Services Commission; Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs; Michigan Wildlife Council; Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals; Michigan Iron Industry Museum Advisory Board; Municipal Stability Board;  Michigan Veteran's Facility Authority Board of Directors; Electronic Recording Commission; Michigan Bean Commission; School Safety and Mental Health Commission; Organized Retail Crime Advisory Board; Michigan Board of Professional Engineers; Michigan Board of Dietetics and Nutrition; Manufactured Housing Commission; Michigan Interagency Council on Homelessness; and the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board. 

 

State Fire Marshal 

Thomas Hughes, Jr., of Northville, is the outgoing deputy fire chief for Northville Township. Hughes has served in multiple positions in his over 21 years of service with the Northville Township Fire Department, including as a firefighter and paramedic, fire inspector, and fire marshal. Hughes holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in public safety studies from Siena Heights University and a Master of Science in technology studies from Eastern Michigan University. Hughes is also a graduate of the School of Fire Staff and Command at Eastern Michigan University. Thomas Hughes, Jr. will be appointed as State Fire Marshal for a term commencing June 2, 2025, and expiring at the pleasure of the governor, no later than June 1, 2029. Hughes succeeds Kevin Sehlmeyer, who has resigned. 

 

“I am incredibly honored by this appointment and humbled by the opportunity to serve as Michigan’s State Fire Marshal,” said Hughes. “I look forward to working with the dedicated men and women of the Bureau of Fire Services and supporting the fire service across Michigan.” 

 

The State Fire Marshal leads the Michigan Bureau of Fire Services, a division of the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs and also serves as a member of the State Board of Mechanical Rules and as an ex-officio member of the Fire Fighters Training Council and State Safety Board.

Michigan Gaming Control Board 

Jim Ananich, of Flint, is the president and CEO of the Greater Flint Health Coalition and a lecturer in state and local government at the University of Michigan – Flint. Ananich has previously held elected positions as Michigan State Senate minority leader, Michigan state representative, and Flint City Council president. Ananich began his career as a social studies teacher and holds a Bachelor of Arts in political economy from Michigan State University and a Master of Public Administration in educational administration and supervision from the University of Michigan. Ananich also serves as an advisory board member for the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan. Jim Ananich is appointed to represent Democrats and as Chair for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring December 31, 2028. Ananich succeeds Linda Forte, whose term has expired.  

 

The Michigan Gaming Control Board shall ensure the conduct of fair and honest gaming to protect the interests of the citizens of the state of Michigan. The Board provides Detroit commercial casinos gaming operations licensing and regulation, licenses and regulates online gaming and sports betting operators, platform providers and suppliers, regulates pari-mutuel horse racing and casino-style charitable gaming, and audits tribal gaming compact agreement compliance.

State Tax Commission 

Nancy Quarles, of Novi, is a former Michigan state representative and vice chair of the Tax Policy Committee, a former Oakland County commissioner, and the immediate past chair of the Oakland County Democratic Party. Quarles holds a Doctor of Philosophy in public administration and public affairs from Western Michigan University, a Master of Arts in management and leadership from Central Michigan University, a Master of Science in legal studies from The George Washington University, and a Bachelor of Science in business administration and industrial relations from the University of Detroit Mercy. Nancy Quarles will be appointed as a Democrat. Quarles will succeed Mark Davidoff, whose term has expired. 

 

The State Tax Commission is comprised of three members appointed by the governor. The State Tax Commission has general supervision of the administration of the property tax laws in Michigan and shall render such assistance and give such advice to assessors, as they deem necessary. In 2009, the State Tax Commission became responsible for the education and certification of assessing officers.

Certificate of Need Commission 

 

Karen Cheeseman, of St. Ignace, is the president and chief executive officer of the Mackinac Straits Health System. Cheeseman holds a Bachelor of Arts in human resources management from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts in organizational management from Spring Arbor University. Karen Cheeseman will be appointed as a member representing hospitals for a term commencing June 13, 2025, and expiring April 9, 2028. Cheeseman will succeed James Falahee, whose term has expired. 

 

Tatiana Grant, of Farmington Hills, is the owner of Flash Hub Delivery and principal at 2050 Partners, Inc. Grant holds a Bachelor of Science in public relations from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Arts in public relations from Michigan State University. Tatiana Grant is appointed as a member representing companies that are not self-insured for health coverage for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring January 1, 2026. Grant succeeds Dr. Ashok Kondur, who has resigned.  

 

The Certificate of Need (CON) Commission has the responsibility to develop, approve, disapprove, or revise CON Review Standards that are used by the CON Program Section to issue decisions on CON applications. The Commission evaluates the Review Standards for modification on a three-year rotating schedule as identified in the Commission Workplan. The Commission also has the authority to make recommendations to revise the list of covered clinical services subject to CON review.

Early Childhood Investment Corporation Executive Committee 

Paula Herbart, of Lansing, is the former president of the Michigan Education Association. Herbart is also a former elementary and middle school teacher, as well as an early childhood center program director. Herbart has previously served on the boards of Metropolitan Detroit Chorale, the Michigan Education Association, the National Education Association, Launch Michigan, Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan, Emergent Holdings, and Children Trust Michigan. In 2021, Herbart was named one of Michigan’s 100 most influential women by Crain’s Detroit. Herbart holds a Bachelor of Music in music education from the University of Michigan Paula Herbart is appointed for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring July 22, 2026. Herbart succeeds Sharyl Smith, who has resigned. 

 

The Early Childhood Investment Corporation was created to be the state's focal point for information and investment in early childhood education in Michigan so that children can arrive at the kindergarten door, safe, healthy, and eager for learning and life. The Investment Corporation was founded in 2005 and charged with implementing a Great Start system for Michigan both at the state and community level.

Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority Board of Commissioners 

Tiffany Taylor, of Clinton Township, is the chief people and impact officer at GSV Ventures and is a partner and co-president at ASU+GSV Summit. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and Afro-American and African studies from the University of Michigan, a Master of Science in education from St. Joseph’s University, and a Master of Community in urban planning and real estate development from the University of Maryland. Tiffany Taylor will be reappointed for a term commencing May 3, 2025, and expiring May 2, 2029.  

 

The Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority Board of Commissioners is a seven-member board that governs the Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority. The Board of Commissioners makes policy decisions for the Authority, including approving expenditures, acquiring land, planning of new parks and facilities, approving fees and charges, awarding contracts through competitive bidding, and other matters necessary to provide regional recreation. The Board appoints the Director and confirms the Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer for the Metroparks.

Crime Victim Services Commission 

Jeffrey Getting, of Kalamazoo, is the Kalamazoo County prosecuting attorney. Getting holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice and sociology from Western Michigan University and a Juris Doctor from the Indiana University School of Law. Jeffrey Getting is reappointed as a prosecuting attorney and Democrat for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring September 27, 2027. 

 

The Crime Victim Services Commission provides reimbursement expenses on innocent crime victims who suffer a physical injury. The Commission is the state agency charged with overseeing a wide range of funding and services for victims of crime. Its goal is to promote services and supports that protect and enhance the health, safety, dignity, and rights of victims of crime across the state of Michigan.

Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs 

Najib Hourani, of Lansing, is an associate professor in the Department of Anthropology at Michigan State University. Hourani was previously an adjunct professor at the Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies at New York University and an adjunct professor at the Graduate Program in International Affairs at The New School. Hourani holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Master of Arts in Middle Eastern and North African studies from the University of Michigan, a Master of Arts in political science from Tulane University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in politics from New York University. Najib Hourani is reappointed for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring April 19, 2029.  

  

The Commission on Middle Eastern American Affairs advises the Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity and the Governor on issues relating to the Arab and Chaldean communities in Michigan and promotes awareness of their culture and history. They also work to empower, promote, and advance the Middle Eastern American community in Michigan.

Michigan Wildlife Council 

Dr. Jason Garvon, of Brimley, is a professor of biology at Lake Superior State University. Dr. Garvon is the advisor for the LSSU Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and a past member of the Eastern Upper Peninsula Citizens Advisory Council. Dr. Garvon holds a Bachelor of Science in ecology and a Master of Science in biology from Northern Michigan University and Ph.D. in wildlife science from Texas A&M University. Dr. Jason Garvon is appointed to represent individuals who have purchased hunting or fishing licenses in this state on a regular basis, including at least once during each of the last 3 years, and who are recommended by a statewide sportsmen's organization for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring March 31, 2029. Dr. Garvon succeeds Nicholas Buggia, whose term has expired. 

  

Franklin Hayes, of Detroit, serves as assistant chief for the Detroit Police Department. Hayes is a lifetime member of the Michigan Trapshooting Association and is a member of the association's Executive Committee. Hayes attended the Michigan State University School of Staff and Command and holds a bachelor’s degree in leadership and diversity from Cleary University. Hayes is reappointed to represent individuals who have purchased hunting or fishing licenses in this state on a regular basis, including at least once during each of the last 3 years, and who are recommended by a statewide sportsmen's organization, for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring March 31, 2029. 

  

The Michigan Wildlife Council was created to educate about the importance of wildlife conservation and the role of hunters and anglers in preserving Michigan's great outdoor heritage for future generations.

Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals 

Kristen Walcott, of Lansing, is a manager of care management at the University of Michigan Sparrow Population Health. Walcott is a registered nurse with the State of Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Calvin University.  Kristen Walcott is appointed to represent management in the health industry for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring March 18, 2028. Walcott succeeds Kristin Domanski, whose term has expired. 

 

The Board of Health and Safety Compliance and Appeals reviews all contested Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) cases involving safety and health citations, orders, and appeals. The Board may order testimony at hearings, compel witnesses or require depositions, and further promulgates rules of procedure for hearings, maintaining consistency with any federal occupation safety or health standard.

Michigan Iron Industry Museum Advisory Board 

Sandy Meyskens, of Marquette, retired as an educational consultant at Marquette-Alger RESA. Meyskens is a member of the League of Women Voters of Marquette County and a former board member for the Marquette County Historical Society. Sandy Meyskens is appointed to represent the Marquette County Historical Society for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring October 4, 2028. 

 

The Michigan Iron Industry Museum Advisory Board advises the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment on policies, plans, and programs concerning the Michigan Iron Industry Museum. The Board supports education programs and public use of the facility.

Municipal Stability Board 

Michael Grodi, of Erie, is the Erie Township supervisor and retired as a Monroe County correctional officer. Grodi serves on the Monroe County Library Board of Trustees and the Michigan Sheriffs’ Coordinating and Training Council. Grodi holds an associate of science from Monroe County Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Columbia Southern University, and a Master of Organizational Leadership from Waldorf University. Michael Grodiwill be reappointed to represent local governments for a term commencing May 2, 2025, and expiring May 1, 2029.  

 

The Municipal Stability Board is housed within the Michigan Department of Treasury and was created to review and update a list of best practices and strategies that will assist an underfunded local unit of government in developing a corrective action plan, and to review and vote on the approval of an action plan submitted by a local unit of government.

Michigan Veteran's Facility Authority Board of Directors 

David Henry, of Muskegon, is vice president of business development at Emergency Services, LLC and serves as park ranger lead for the County of Muskegon. Henry holds a paramedic certification from Grand Valley State University, a nursing certification from Michigan State University, and an emergency medical technician certification from Muskegon Community College. David Henry is reappointed as a member with professional knowledge, skill, or experience in long-term care, health care licensure or finance, or medicine for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring April 15, 2029. 

 

The Michigan Veterans’ Facility Authority Board of Directors governs the Michigan Veterans’ Facility Authority and consists of the Director of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and eight members appointed by the Governor who have professional knowledge, skill, or experience in long-term care, health care licensure or finance, or medicine.

Electronic Recording Commission 

Domonique Clemons, of Flint, is the Genesee County clerk and register of deeds. Previously, Clemons was a Genesee County commissioner representing District 4, the director of government affairs for the Flint and Genesee Group, and a staffer in the Michigan House of Representatives. Clemons also serves on the Michigan Manufactured Housing Commission, Rotary Club of Flint Board of Directors, Genesee County Diversity Equity and Inclusion Commission, and the Genesee Health Plan Board of Directors. Clemons holds a Bachelor of Arts in public policy from Michigan State University and a Master of Professional Studies in political management from George Washington University. Domonique Clemons is appointed to represent county registers of deeds for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring January 1, 2027. 

 

Sara Dolan, of East Lansing, is the chief financial officer for the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union. Dolan earned a Master of Business Administration from Western Michigan University and Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Michigan State University. Sara Dolan is reappointed to represent banking professionals for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring January 1, 2026. 

 

Derrick Quinney, of Lansing, is the Ingham County register of deeds. Quinney was previously a health and safety director for the Michigan AFL-CIO. Derrick Quinney is reappointed to represent county registers of deeds for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring January 1, 2026. 

 

The Electronic Recording Commission keeps the standards and practices of county registers of deeds in this state in harmony with the standards and practices of offices of county registers of deeds in other jurisdictions. The Commission keeps the technology used by county registers of deeds in this state compatible with technology used by offices of county registers of deeds in other jurisdictions

Michigan Bean Commission 

Chris Creguer, of Unionville, is a territory manager for Pioneer Seed. Creuger also serves as trade policy advisory team chair for the US Grains Council. Creguer holds a bachelor's degree in animal science and agricultural business from Michigan State University and a master's degree in agronomy and crop science from Iowa State University. Chris Creguer is appointed to represent district 3 growers for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring December 31, 2027. Creguer succeeds Greg Ackerman, whose term has expired. 

 

Allen Bischer, of Minden City, is the owner of Gentner Bischer Farms. Bischer is a past parish council president at the St. Peter and Paul Church and has participated in U.S. Dry Bean Council trade missions. Allen Bischer is reappointed to represent District 5 growers for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring December 31, 2027.  

 

Neil French, of Munger, is a grower relations manager at Edible Bean Specialties, Inc. French is licensed in pesticide application and holds a Bachelor of Science in elevator management from Michigan State University. Neil French is reappointed to represent processors, shippers, and handlers for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring December 31, 2027. 

 

Mark Shaw, of Marlette, is the co-owner of Allen K Shaw, Inc., alongside his father Steve Shaw. Shaw holds an associate degree in crop and soils business management from Saint Clair Community College. Mark Shaw is appointed to represent District 4 growers for a term commencing on April 25, 2025, and expiring December 31, 2027. Shaw succeeds Clinton Stoutenburg, whose term has expired. 

 

The Michigan Bean Commission is headquartered in Frankenmuth, the heart of the growing area. The primary objectives of the Commission are research and promotion. There are more than 1,100 growers and related agri-business associates registered with the Michigan Bean Commission who are dedicated to bringing consumers the highest quality dry beans. Michigan's growers have a long history of production and are recognized worldwide as industry leaders.

School Safety and Mental Health Commission 

Susan Koceski, of Novi, is a school psychologist at Oakland Schools, where she has worked since 2001. Koceski holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Eastern Michigan University and a Doctor of Philosophy in school psychology from Wayne State University. Susan Koceski is appointed as a member submitted by the House Minority leader with experience in school mental health for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring April 9, 2027. 

 

The School Safety and Mental Health Commission was established by the Michigan legislature in 2024 and modified by executive order 2025-1. The commission shall provide recommendations to reduce youth suicides and strengthen the mental health of school-age children, adolescents, and their families through a comprehensive, statewide approach. The commission may also review and make recommendations related to school safety measures including but not limited to: the development and evaluation of school safety model practices, the review of the statewide school safety information policy and the emergency operations plans, the role of school safety liaisons, the emerging trends in school safety technology, and the baseline safety requirements for schools or baseline hardening measures for new and existing schools.

Organized Retail Crime Advisory Board 

Shannon Simon, of Byron Center, is the owner and president of SP Simon, LLC and a wealth advisor at DB & C Advisors, LLC. Simon holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and management from Northwood University. Shannon Simon is reappointed to represent the general public for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring March 30, 2029. 

 

The Organized Retail Crime Advisory Board was created to develop a database of organized retail crimes, compile annual statistics on organized retail crime acts, recommend actions to be taken by the department and law enforcement to further combat organized retail crime, and to submit an annual report to the director of the department on the effectiveness of this act in reducing organized retail crime.

Michigan Board of Professional Engineers 

Stanley Opal, of White Cloud, is the operator of a surplus store in White Cloud. Opal serves as chair of Friends of Newaygo County Library and as a member of the Newaygo County Fire Board. Opal attended the United States Army Engineer School. Stanley Opal is reappointed as a member of the general public for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring March 31, 2029.  

 

Paul Sgriccia, of South Lyon, is the senior consultant at PTS Consulting, LLC and an adjunct professor at Wayne State University’s College of Engineering. Sgriccia holds a Bachelor of Science in environmental science engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in civil and environmental engineering from Wayne State University. Paul Sgriccia is appointed as a professional engineer for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring March 31, 2029. Sgriccia succeeds Dima El-Gamal, whose term has expired.   

   

Dax Richer, of Ishpeming, is a senior architect at RG Design Company. Richer is a licensed architect and holds a Bachelor of Science in architecture and urban planning from the University of Wisconsin and a Master of Science in architecture from Lawrence Technological University. Richer is reappointed as an architect who is a member of the Board of Architects for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring March 31, 2029.   

   

Nancy McClain, of Redford, is the project manager at Giffels Webster. McClain holds a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Michigan Technological University. McClain is reappointed as a professional engineer for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring March 31, 2029.    

  

The Michigan Board of Professional Engineers was created to license and regulate the practice of professional engineering in Michigan. The Board works with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to oversee the practice of licensed professional engineers.

Michigan Board of Dietetics and Nutrition  

Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom, of Southfield, is the senior vice president for community health and equity and chief wellness and diversity officer at Henry Ford Health Services. Dr. Wisdom was previously appointed as the state’s first surgeon general under Governor Jennifer Granholm. Dr. Wisdom holds a Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of Pennsylvania and both a Master of Science in clinical research design and statistical analysis and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan. Dr. Kimberlydawn Wisdom is appointed as a physician for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029. 

  

Bryan Nader, of Grand Rapids, is a regional executive chef at Trinity Health. Nader holds a Bachelor of Culinary Arts from Grand Rapids Community College. Bryan Nader is appointed as a member of the public for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.    

  

Ryan Trotter, of Dexter, is a manager of patient food services at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Trotter holds an associate of applied science in culinary arts from Washtenaw Community College. Ryan Trotter is appointed as a member of the public for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.    

  

Arlynn Dailey, of Redford, is the director of community outreach and engagement at Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. Dailey holds a Bachelor of Science in journalism from Central Michigan University and a Master of Arts in health and risk communication from Michigan State University. Arlynn Dailey is appointed as a member of the public for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.    

  

Emily Camiener, of Birmingham, is the owner of Diet Detroit. Camiener holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Public Health from Loma Linda University. Emily Camiener is appointed as a dietitian nutritionist for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.    

  

Allison Bone, of Richland, is the owner of Untamed Nutrition Therapy. Bone holds a Bachelor of Science in dietetics from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in exercise physiology from Eastern Michigan University. Allison Bone is appointed as a dietitian nutritionist for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.    

  

Bethany Thayer, of Huntington Woods, is the director of the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention at Henry Ford Health. Thayer holds a Bachelor of Science in dietetics from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in exercise science from Oakland University. Thayer is appointed as a dietitian nutritionist for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.   

  

Laura Kull, of Farmington, is the nutrition and dietetics program director and an adjunct professor at Madonna University. Kull holds a Bachelor of Science in dietetics from Michigan State University and a Master of Science in nutritional science from University of Michigan. Laura Kull is appointed as a dietitian nutritionist for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.       

  

Tina Guajardo, of Battle Creek, is a community health education supervisor for Bronson Healthcare. Guajardo holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Baker College and both a Bachelor of Science in dietetics and a Master of Arts in family and consumer sciences from Western Michigan University. Tina Guajardo is appointed as a dietitian nutritionist for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.    

  

Tracy Booth, of Grand Rapids, is the owner of Life-Styles: Nutrition Services. Booth holds a Bachelor of Science in nutrition and dietetics from the University of Detroit Mercy and a Master of Arts in educational leadership from Western Michigan University. Tracy Booth is appointed as a dietitian nutritionist for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.    

  

Richa Modak, of Ann Arbor, is the founder of mod-R Nutrition & Fitness. Modak holds a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from Savitribai Phule Pune University and a Master of Public Health in human nutrition and dietetics from the University of Michigan. Modak is appointed as a dietitian nutritionist for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.    

  

Lynette Maxey, of Manistee, is the clinical nutrition manager at Sodexo. Maxey holds a Bachelor of Science in dietetics from Western Michigan University. Maxey is appointed as a dietitian nutritionist for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.    

  

Michelle Buggs, of Ypsilanti, is a food service dietitian and nutrition consultant at Henry Ford Health. Buggs holds a Bachelor of Arts in communication and sociology from Kent State University and a Master of Science in dietetics from Eastern Michigan University. Buggs is appointed as a dietitian nutritionist for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring June 30, 2029.     

  

The Michigan Board of Dietetics and Nutrition was created by Michigan's 102nd Legislature to license and regulate the practice of professional dietetics and nutrition in Michigan. The Board works with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to promulgate rules to establish a code of ethics for licensees. The Board and the Department will work together to announce initial rules to implement this part for individuals seeking licensure as a dietitian nutritionist.

Manufactured Housing Commission 

Bobbie Meehan, of Clarkston, is the operations manager for Little Valley Homes Inc. Meehan will be reappointed to represent licensed mobile home dealers for a term commencing May 10, 2025, and expiring May 9, 2028. 

 

Kimberly Scott, of Howell, is chief operating officer at Tranquilo Communities. Kimberly Scott will be reappointed as an operator of a licensed manufactured housing park for a term commencing May 10, 2025, and expiring May 9, 2028.   

 

Jason Reed, of Grawn, is a journeyman carpenter and business representative with the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights. Reed will be reappointed as a member of organized labor for a term commencing May 10, 2025, and expiring May 9, 2027. 

 

Holly Hook, of Swartz Creek, is an author and the founder of Michigan Mobile Home Residents for Affordable Housing. In addition, Hook is the treasurer for Flint Area Writers. Hook holds an associate degree in physical therapy. Holly Hook will be reappointed to represent organizations whose membership consists of mobile home residents for a term commencing May 10, 2025, and expiring May 9, 2027 

 

Domonique Clemons, of Flint, is the Genesee County Clerk & Register of Deeds, having served since December 2022. Previously, Clemons was a Genesee County commissioner representing District 4, the director of government affairs for the Flint & Genesee Group, and a staffer in the Michigan House of Representatives. Clemons serves on the Rotary Club of Flint Board of Directors, Genesee County Diversity Equity & Inclusion Commission, Michigan Electronic Recording Commission, and the Genesee Health Plan Board of Directors. Clemons holds a Bachelor of Arts in public policy from Michigan State University and a Master of Professional Studies in political management from George Washington University. Domonique Clemons will be reappointed to represents local government for a term commencing May 10, 2025, and expiring May 9, 2028. 

 

The Manufactured Housing Commission is responsible for establishing uniform policy relating to all phases of manufactured housing, business, manufactured housing parks, and seasonal manufactured housing parks. The Commission has the legal authority to approve local governmental ordinances which would regulate manufactured housing, grant variances to the Manufactured Housing Commission Rules, approve licenses for manufactured home installer/servicers and retailers, and impose penalties on persons who have violated the Mobile Home Commission Act or Rules.

Michigan Interagency Council on Homelessness 

Cassie Smith, of Portland, is a homeless veteran coordinator for the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in therapeutic recreation from Grand Valley State University. Cassie Smith is appointed to represent the director of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, or his or her designee, for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring January 30, 2029. Smith succeeds Erika Hoover, whose term has expired. 

 

Eric Hufnagel, of Saint Johns, is a chief executive officer at the Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness. Hufnagel was previously associate director for development and administration at Child and Family Services of Michigan, a Michigan State University extension officer, and president and chief executive officer at the National Schizophrenia Foundation. Hufnagel holds a Bachelor of Arts in multidisciplinary studies from Michigan State University and a Master of Public Administration from Western Michigan University. Eric Hufnagel is appointed to represent the general public for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring January 1, 2027. Hufnagel succeeds Philip Cavanaugh, whose term has expired. 

 

The Michigan Interagency Council on Homelessness was designed to develop, adopt, and update a 10-year plan to end homelessness. The 10-year plan shall include evidence-based improvements to programs and policies that will ensure services and housing are provided in an efficient, cost-effective, and productive manner. The plan shall be coordinated and tailored with the Federal Strategic Plan, "Opening Doors," to meet the needs of this state's homeless population.

Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board "Children Trust Michigan" 

Robert OMeara, of Lansing, is the director of public affairs for Michigan at ITC Holdings Corporation. O’Meara holds a Bachelor of Art in communications from Adrian College and a Master of Arts in public policy and public administration from Northwestern University. Robert OMeara is appointed as a member representing the business community for a term commencing April 25, 2025, and expiring December 19, 2027. O’Meara succeeds Travis Spencer, whose term has expired. 

 

The Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board, also known as Children Trust Michigan, was established by the Michigan Legislature in 1982 and serves as a voice for Michigan's children and families and promotes their health, safety, and welfare by funding effective local programs and services that prevent child abuse and neglect.
