Republican NC lawmakers violated constitution in effort to strip election powers from Democratic governor, court rules - WRAL John — Josh Stein and other Democratic leaders won decisive statewide victories in last year’s elections. But, North Carolina’s Republican legislators, in the weeks before they LOST their supermajority, pushed through laws designed to strip Josh and other Democrats of their powers — powers voters elected them to use for the good of our state. This week, a crucial court ruling STRUCK DOWN the GOP’s law removing the governor’s ability to appoint members to the State Board of Elections and county election boards as unconstitutional. This is a critical victory for North Carolina’s democracy and upholding the constitutional separation of powers that protects it. Josh will always prioritize our election integrity and the fairness of our election administration. This is about patriotism — not party politics.
