MISSOURI
Republican Governor Mike Kehoe recently nominated a progressive Democrat to the State Board of Education. Our friends at the American Accountability Foundation, with the help of the Missouri Freedom Caucus, alerted all members of the Missouri State Senate and told them that the nominee, Tom Prater:
* Donated to several Democrats, including a liberal state lawmaker who pledged to fight school choice.
* Donated to CLEAN Missouri, a woke group devoted to changing election laws in the state to favor Democrats.
* Operated and donated to a PAC dedicated to raising local taxes.
Once State Senators caught wind of this information, they knew they couldn't support Prater without significant blowback from voters. So Kehoe reluctantly pulled Prater's nomination.
Viewed in a vacuum, this may seem like a small victory, but it sent a LOUD message to the Governor that he needs to think twice before nominating a progressive liberal for any position of authority going forward.
FLASHBACK: Recall that our South Carolina Freedom Caucus did something similar last year when they blocked a liberal Democrat, supported by House "Republican" leadership, from becoming a judge.
Our state freedom caucuses routinely sound the alarm and defeat liberals when they are appointed by "Republican" governors. This is a key function of what they do, the dividends of which can't be overstated.
