Alabama (AL) – House Passed HB 244 – Prohibits Public School Teachers at All K-12 Grade Levels from Teaching or Discussing Gender Identity or Sexuality

Texas (TX) – Senate Passage SB 33 – Prohibits Any State Funding from Going Toward Helping Women Get Out-of-State Abortions

North Dakota (ND) – House Passed SB 2307 – Requires Libraries Remove Explicit Materials from Main Areas

Republican Amy Romano won a special election on Tuesday to represent Connecticut’s 113th State House seat, which represents the town of Shelton. The special election was called upon the vacancy of now-State Senator Jason Perrillo, who resigned when he won a special election to his current post. Romano’s win brings the total Republicans in the State House to 48 to 102 Democrats.

Democrat Barbara Lee was elected as mayor of Oakland, California last week. Lee, a former member of the United States House of Representatives for nearly 30 years, won a special election last week to fill out the remainder of former Mayor Sheng Thao’s term. In November, Thao was successfully recalled. Mayor Lee will now oversee California’s 8th largest city.
