Governor Kim Reynolds’ decision to not seek reelection leaves a lot of opportunities open for next year. 

We can count on multiple Republicans stepping up to replace her, but IDP will remain laser-focused on working to elect a Democratic governor.

Iowans are suffering as a result of Reynolds’ leadership. The lack of investment in public schools, the negligence of our farmers and rural communities, and the decline in our economy for middle-class families have gone too far.

How do we know Iowans are ready for change? Because of the momentum we’ve seen already in our special elections this year.

Two Democrats flipped seats and we closed the gap in a Trump-heavy district. Iowans are already voting for change — now we just have to make sure we’re all gas no brakes until 2026.

We have a lot of mobilizing to do across the state to make sure Iowans are informed and ready to elect a Democratic Governor, but we’re going to need resources to put our Forward: Victory 2026 plan into motion.
