Donald Trump has issued an executive order requiring documentary proof of citizenship for voter registration and demanding that all mail ballots be received by Election Day.

The Constitution grants the states the right to manage elections. This executive order is an overreach that threatens to upend Colorado’s gold standard for secure, fair elections, and I won’t stand for it. That’s why I’m taking the Trump administration to court again to stop this illegal order and protect your freedom to vote.

I took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution, was trained in constitutional law by the best (Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg), and protected Colorado’s elections at the Supreme Court, where we prevailed in the last case heard by Justice Ginsburg. I will continue to defend our Constitution, our democratic republic, and the rule of law.

This fight isn’t new. That’s why, on his first day in office, when President Trump attempted to illegally destroy birthright citizenship, I fought back to stop his flatly unconstitutional executive order. The Supreme Court will hear that case in May—and I will be fighting to protect our Constitution and your rights.
