Dear Neighbors,
I hope this email finds you well. With all the rain we’ve been experiencing, I’m hoping these April showers will bring an abundance of May flowers.
And speaking of weather, some timely cuts we learned of this week coming from the federal government is the closure of our Midwestern Regional Climate Center [ [link removed] ]. Everything from health care systems, infrastructure, and transportation systems to planting resources for our farmers, all of these benefit from the resources provided by the regional climate centers.
I’m especially concerned about Minnesota's agricultural economy, which relies on accurate climate information. Without these resources, our farmers face higher costs and greater uncertainty, which impacts food prices for all of us. Food grown in Minnesota feeds the world, and we’re committed to keeping prices low and ensuring Minnesota remains an agriculture leader through innovation, sustainability, and resilience. I kept this in mind as the House passed the state agriculture budget bill yesterday.

*Thank you & Saturday’s Community Coffee Hour*
I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the 600+ Minnesotans who attended the recent South Metro Town Hall meeting on the impacts of federal funding. The stories about how these freezes and cuts would affect health care access, schools, infrastructure, and essential services were both moving and informative. Minnesotans are fired up about impacts on health care, the freedoms Donald Trump and Elon Musk are working to take away, and the impact on family budgets through increased costs due to reckless tariffs.

These funding freezes and cuts aren't just about numbers on a spreadsheet. It's about real families and real community needs. Your participation demonstrates what makes our district special – people who care enough to show up and stand up for each other.
To that end, you’re invited to join our neighbors and me for a casual conversation [ [link removed] ] about these issues and how they’re impacting our Apple Valley community. I’m hosting a Community Coffee Hour at the Galaxie Library (14955 Galaxie Ave, Apple Valley) this Saturday, April 26th from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

This is an opportunity to share your thoughts, concerns, and ideas about how we can keep our state moving forward amid the chaos coming from the White House. Drop in anytime during the hour to make your voice heard or simply listen to what others have to say. These community dialogues help shape our priorities and ensure we're addressing what matters most to Apple Valley residents.
