Pope Francis - a steadfast defender of the right-to-life
We pay tribute to the life and legacy of Pope Francis (1936–2025) as a steadfast defender of the right-to-life. He spoke up for the value of every life - especially the unborn who are hidden and voiceless.
While he regularly referenced the pro-life issue, more often than not, his remarks didn’t receive the media attention that they deserved.
Some quotes of Pope Francis on the right-to-life:
“Since everything is interrelated, concern for the protection of nature is also incompatible with the justification of abortion.”
“How can we genuinely teach the importance of concern for other vulnerable beings, however troublesome or inconvenient they may be, if we fail to protect a human embryo, even when its presence is uncomfortable and creates difficulties?”
There are “forms of ‘ideological colonization‘… that would place before the reality of life reductive concepts of freedom, for example by vaunting as progress a senseless ‘right to abortion’, which is always a tragic defeat.”
