Patriot,

When you think of living your day-to-day life, what do you picture?

Going to the supermarket?
Walking around your neighborhood?
Cooking yourself breakfast, lunch, and dinner?

The government thinks someone like me only needs to get from their bedroom to the bathroom to live a full life.

Yes, I’m serious: my bedroom to the bathroom. That’s it.

My name is Thomas Quiter, founder of the Mobility Independence Foundation (MIF). I was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta and have required the use of a wheelchair for my entire life.

The government believes in the “in-the-home rule” when it comes to mobility equipment. This means that insurance companies are only required to provide mobility equipment for “daily living,” meaning the bedroom to the bathroom

They believe that for me to have a full life, I don’t need to go outside or even throughout my entire home.

Not only that…

If there is normal wear and tear on a wheelchair from outside use, insurance won’t cover the costs to fix it. Causing people to be trapped in their homes for months or even years with broken mobility equipment.

I founded MIF to revolutionize and deregulate mobility technology so we can provide impactful mobility solutions to those who need them most.

But I need your help.

Could you donate $10, $35, $50, or even $100 to help the Mobility Independence Foundation fight government regulations like the inhumane “in-the-home rule?” Donate now >>

Government regulations don’t stop at the “in-the-home rule.”

Currently, the FDA considers wheelchairs the same as a prescription, and people are told they cannot modify or repair them.

I was told I should discard a $65,000 custom wheelchair over a 2-inch part. This is when I realized the importance of open-source mobility equipment in the industry.

Our local communities are far more capable of supporting each other as neighbors than the bureaucrats in Washington, D.C., ever will be. This is why our mission is to use open-source hardware rather than relying on government programs.

Under open source hardware:

It’s critical we empower our communities to support one another rather than allow the government to dictate how we should live our lives.
