Team — I’m not writing to be alarmist, but Trump has just made another move as part of his billionaire-first agenda.

Today, Trump announced he is launching an investigation into ActBlue, which you likely recognize as the largest digital fundraising platform used by Democratic campaigns, advocacy organizations, and donors. 

While Trump and Republicans claim this investigation is to ensure that no foreign actors are participating in our elections, let’s be very clear about what this is: an attempt to systematically undermine our democratic process. 

By limiting how and when grassroots supporters — supporters like you — can contribute, your ability to engage in our elections is greatly diminished. 

And by limiting how and when grassroots donations are received, Democratic candidates — like me and my House Democratic colleagues — lose our ability to reach as many voters as we can through on-the-ground organizing, direct voter outreach, and so much more. 

But it doesn’t limit the ability for billionaires like Elon Musk to cut million dollar checks to the corrupt, greedy, and cruel politicians who are willing to sell out their constituents to further their own power. That’s not right, that’s certainly not fair, and that couldn’t be farther from a representative democracy where folks are elected to serve the people, not just the wealthy few. 

We still have time to fight back, but we have to act fast. So, will you rush in whatever you can today to help us in our fight for a truly representative democracy?
