Earlier today, Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum targeting ActBlue.

You’ve probably heard of ActBlue – in fact, you’ve probably even seen the links in the emails our team sends out. Our campaign and most Democratic campaigns utilize the platform to raise money.

While the White House is messaging this action as taking on foreign contributions, let’s be clear: They are specifically targeting ActBlue because they want to undermine Democrats’ abilities to run campaigns.

That’s why they’re not going after WinRed – the Republican counterpart to ActBlue.

For years, Democrats have built grassroots campaigns and gone head-to-head with massive dark money donors who spend millions and millions trying to elect far-right officials who will put their wants over the people.

But this is about more than ActBlue: At a basic level, attacking campaign infrastructure is an attack on our democracy. Republicans are clearly threatened by everyday people coming together and contributing to the grassroots campaigns that are pushing back on their agenda.

We have to show them that, at this moment, we won’t back down.
