John, I'm reaching out because you may have seen news about Donald Trump’s new attack on ActBlue — a clear attempt to shut down his political opposition and consolidate MAGA power. For years, ActBlue has been the main way millions of Americans give to Democratic candidates and progressive causes they believe in — including our work at the National Democratic Redistricting Committee. So let me make this very clear: Trump’s action is a blatant abuse of power, and it’s an outrageous, baseless attempt to stifle his critics. If you want to know why he’s going after a grassroots fundraising platform, just look at what this movement accomplished in Wisconsin earlier this month. Elon Musk — one of Trump's closest allies and the wealthiest man on earth — spent millions to try to influence the outcome of that state supreme court race. But the far right lost. Why? Because grassroots Democrats organized — and a whole bunch of people donated to make sure that an election like that couldn't be bought. This grassroots victory wouldn't have been possible without a platform like ActBlue. Small-dollar donations are fundamental to a healthy democracy. When millions of us pool our resources to support candidates we believe in, our elections can reflect the will of the people rather than the interests of the wealthy few. And Trump’s attack on ActBlue fits into the broader right-wing agenda of silencing voters, punishing opponents, and seizing power at any cost — through laws that make it harder to vote, maps that make it impossible for communities to elect candidates of their choosing, and outright attempts to steal elections (like what’s happening in North Carolina’s state supreme court race). ActBlue is still up and running because they refuse to back down — and as they fight back, we’ll continue to defend the right of the American people to participate in our democracy. I’m so grateful to have you in this fight alongside us. Sincerely, Marina Marina Jenkins
