In case you missed it, Trump wants to play games with food safety by eliminating most of the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) food safety inspection work.
The FDA is tasked with protecting our food supply, especially across state lines. By handing that duty off to state and local agencies that may not have the necessary resources, Trump is putting families in Northeast Ohio and across the United States at risk.
This isn’t complicated: If the FDA performs fewer food safety inspections, there will be more outbreaks, more illnesses, and more preventable deaths.
Trump has a break-first, ask later approach – and one thing we should definitely not break is food safety.
