If so, we need you to show up at the Capitol in the Senate State Affairs Hearing, John Reagan Building, Rm 140. This building is on the north side of Capitol next to Texas Supreme Court. Please look for Texas Values staff/volunteers for assistance and testify in favor of the “What is a Woman Bill” HB 229 (Representative Ellen Troxclair, author) on Friday, April 25, at 8 a.m. This bill will make the definition of “woman” and “man” clear in state law and grant legal protection to defend women’s single-sex spaces and opportunities.
We need as many people as possible to show up tomorrow, Friday, to testify in favor of the bill. If you work or live close to the Capitol and cannot stay, please come and register “in favor: of the bill. Our team will be on site to assist you. Please share this alert with as many people as you can who are in your network or grassroots groups.
We will have stickers, posters, and talking points. Please look for Megan from our team for assistance.
Please thank your Texas House member and members of the House State Affairs Committee for holding a hearing on this very important bill that will provide common sense definitions of “sex” in our state law. However, we still need a law that explicitly protects women in restrooms, locker rooms, domestic abuse shelters, and prisons. Please let your member and the members of the House Committee on State Affairs know that the Texas House still needs to support and have a hearing on the Texas Women’s Privacy Act before it is too late! The Texas Senate just passed the Texas Women’s Privacy Act, SB 240 yesterday! But it still must have a hearing and vote in the Texas House!
HB 239 has not received a hearing yet in the State Affairs Committee.
You can find who represents you here.
Call the Senate State Affairs Committee members by thanking them and showing your support of the bills:
