Last night, we wrote an emergency message about Trump's forthcoming order that will target ActBlue, the online grassroots fundraising platform that nearly every single Democratic campaign and organization (including ours) relies on to raise money.
Shortly after we sent our email, two things happened:
1) The CEO & President of ActBlue sent out a release outlining the threat and the steps they are taking to respond to it.
2) More importantly: thousands of individuals saw the threat and stepped up and donated after we asked.
The response has been absolutely remarkable. We will never give up on you because we know you will never give up on us or each other. Thank you.
We are and always will be defiantly staying in the fight. Most of what the Trump Administration has done in the first 100 Days has been unconstitutional, anti-American, or straightforwardly illegal.
The MAGA mobsters currently wielding executive power so brazenly and recklessly don't feel confident that they are allowed or empowered to do these things; they feel confident that no one will ever stand up and oppose them, calling them out for what they are.
But together, we will: what Trump has been doing, and what he is yet planning to do with ActBlue and other key platforms for resistance, are blatant fascist power grabs—illegal and improper abuses of power and trust.
Trump wishes to be a dictator. But he knows he can't achieve this until his opposition is completely silenced and de-platformed. Which is why now more than ever we need to fight back, organize, get loud, and, yes, fundraise and donate to good organizations and candidates.
Right now is the best time to stand up against Trump's illegal and criminal actions. We're asking again because Trump's threats are real and can materialize at any time: will you chip in now and help us prepare for the crucial fights ahead?
