John, our government is fundamentally broken — and far too many hardworking Americans are facing the repercussions of that.

As I kick off this campaign for Congress, I am introducing a three-part pledge that will fix our system and help Democrats get elected around the country.

I want to talk about one part of the pledge today: Term limits.

DONATE

As a member of Congress, I’ll push for a Constitutional amendment to enact term limits, and I pledge to only serve five terms, which is 10 years.

The House of Representatives was meant to be a place where people served their communities, then stepped aside to allow the voters to pick a different vision to represent the district. That has stopped, and Congress is worse for it.

Meanwhile, our current representative has been in Congress for almost thirty years — and unfortunately, he doesn’t have much to show for it.

He’s been running for one office or another nonstop since 1990, when I was three years old. That’s way too long.

People are sick and tired of seeing the same old, same old. We need competition and new voices to create the change our country desperately needs to address our greatest challenges.

John, now that you know this part of my pledge, will you pitch in to help make this vision a reality? The truth is, running on a bold agenda like this means we’ll have people attacking us — the people who benefit from the existing system. That’s why we need change, and it’s why I need your support.

I’m grateful for your support, John.
