Another story of terrible mismanagement and callousness from the Trump administration.

Ricardo Prada Vásquez is a Venezuelan immigrant who was in the US legally. He was completing a food delivery in his home of Detroit when he accidentally drove through a border crossing to Canada, and on the way back into Detroit was stopped and arrested by ICE.

No one has heard from Ricardo since, and his name doesn’t appear on any lists of detainees or deportees. His family doesn’t know where he is, or if he’s even alive.

An attorney with the National Immigrant Justice Center says: “Ricardo’s story by itself is incredibly tragic — and we don’t know how many Ricardos there are,”

That is horrifying and absolutely unacceptable.

Trump’s far-right policies on immigration have made one thing clear: If you’re an immigrant, you have no human rights under his rule.

No due process, no right to speak to an attorney or contact your family, no right to prove your legal status, no right to do anything but be whisked away by ICE and, for some like Ricardo, never to be seen again. This administration is simply lawless and out of control.

Friend, it’s going to take everything we’ve got to oppose this. That means tapping into the movement that Ilhan and all of us have built together over the years to make the fight against authoritarianism and oligarchy our core mission. We need everyone to do their part and to fight back.
