Notice of Public Meeting, Town of Moorcroft, WY, Moorcroft Lead Service Line Identification & Replacement Project

The Town of Moorcroft, Wyoming, will conduct a public meeting at 7:15 PM, local time, on May 14th, 2025, in the Moorcroft Town Hall, 104 N. Big Horn Ave, Moorcroft, WY. The purpose of the meeting is to allow citizens to review and comment on the following project(s). The Town of Moorcroft will be pursuing a project to replace lead and galvanized lines requiring replacement in accordance with the EPA Lead and Copper Rule. This project is necessary to prevent lead contamination in the town's drinking water, which can cause damage to young children and fetuses including nervous system damage, learning disabilities, stunted growth, impaired hearing, and blood diseases.

At the meeting, the Town of Moorcroft will present the preliminary design of the proposed project and will discuss the estimated cost of the improvements and the plan for funding the improvements. A preliminary plan of improvements, cost estimates, and the funding plan can also be reviewed at 104 N Big Horn Avenue, Moorcroft, WY. Contact Jesse Connally at (307) 756-3526.

Based on current cost estimates, the Town of Moorcroft plans to borrow $600,000 from the Wyoming Drinking Water State Revolving Loan Fund administered by the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments. User fees and specific purpose tax will repay the loan. It is not anticipated that there will be a rate increase to pay the loan. Loan terms will be 0% interest rate and 30 years. The Town of Moorcroft is expected to have a 75% principal forgiveness fraction, meaning that the Town of Moorcroft will be forgiven 75% of the full loan, interest-free, upon completion of construction.
Written comments are also welcome. Send written comments to Jesse Connally at 104 N Big Horn Avenue, Moorcroft, WY by 5:00 PM on May 14th, 2025.
