Hi Team, this is Laura Kelly, Governor of Kansas and Chair of the Democratic Governors Association, reaching out with an urgent request.

In just a few months, crucial elections will take place in New Jersey and Virginia. But that’s just the beginning. In 2026, 36 governorships – nearly three-quarters of the states – will be on the line. Democratic governors are essential guardrails against extremism in the states, but they rely on input from grassroots supporters like you.

So Team, I’m personally inviting you – one of our top supporters – to join the DGA’s Democratic Strategy Focus Group. We want to hear directly from you about what Democratic governors should prioritize and where we should focus our efforts right now.

Now more than ever, who your governor is matters – because Democratic governors invest in your future. Take a look at some of the amazing things other Dem Govs are doing around the country:

• Maine Gov. Janet Mills sued and won against Donald Trump in court after he threatened to withhold federal funding from school children in her state unless she caved to his personal demands.
• Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers’ 2025–27 budget aims to crack down on insurance and prescription price gouging, lower out-of-pocket healthcare costs, and expand access to affordable care across the state, including rural areas.
• Maryland Gov. Wes Moore signed legislation to strengthen the state’s workforce by expanding employment opportunities and fast-tracking license approvals for health care workers affected by federal layoffs and firings.
• Here in Kansas, I recently unveiled a plan to more than double the state’s hourly minimum wage from $7.25 to $15, marking the first increase since 2010.

Team, with a Republican trifecta in Washington, we need to elect commonsense leaders up and down the ballot who will do what's right to move our states and our nation forward. That’s why I’m asking for your help today.
