Deepen Your Understanding
of Anglicanism in Europe
An opportunity to include Christian education into your summer plans: a Christian formation and education program is presented in Utrecht, Netherlands, “Anglicanism in European Perspective." Intended for any student of Christian traditions, whether living or simply visiting in Europe, this course will explore historic Christian tradition through the lens of its centuries-long presence on the European Continent.
Anglicanism is the third-largest Christian communion in the world. Anglican communities have been present in Europe for hundreds of years, yet are often seen as marginal or confined to expatriate communities. In fact, Anglican faith communities increasingly draw worshippers and seekers from the European contexts and cultures within which they are present—and are, in turn, influenced by them as they seek to follow God’s call in mission. This introductory course to the Anglican tradition seen from within the perspective of Europe will offer both a historic and prospective view of the Anglican tradition.
Who should attend:
• Serving clergy and those interested in ordination.
• Clergy and theologians interested in Anglicanism and ecumenism.
• Lay leaders of Anglican congregations in Europe are especially welcome to apply.
• Any students of history or religious history are welcome to apply.
• The course is of specific interest for students from Anglican, Orthodox, Lutheran, Old Catholic, Roman Catholic and ecumenical backgrounds.
