Our immigration system is broken. Dreamers are stuck in limbo, we make it way too hard for immigrants to become citizens, and there aren't enough judges to process asylum claims for people fleeing persecution or violence.

Instead of fixing what's broken, the Trump administration, Elon Musk, and DOGE are erratically slashing programs and staff and illegally deporting people without due process. It's terrifying, un-American, and unacceptable. And it's certainly not how we should fix a broken system.

These are not Oregon values.

I've heard loud and clear from my constituents: they want humane immigration reform with a path to citizenship for Dreamers. They want funding for education and public libraries, a healthy planet, protection of free speech and civil rights, lower drug prices, and more affordable health care and housing. They don't want to fund tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy, increase funding for the Pentagon, or spend more money building prisons.

This administration wants broad powers to detain, abduct, and deport without following due process of law. That's illegal, unconstitutional, and inhumane. I will keep fighting for Oregon values, including humane immigration reform, and for fundamental due process rights under the Constitution.
