John, in just the first three months of Trump’s second term, we’ve gone through a lot as a nation — illegal deportations, attacks on our most vulnerable communities, even efforts to dismantle our democracy.

And with years still left in his presidency, this is just the beginning. But Run for Something was built in response to the first Trump administration. We have faced this challenge before. And we’re ready to do it again.

That’s why we’re doubling down on our work to recruit, train, and support the next generation of progressive leaders — as outlined in our 2025 Strategic Plan. But whether we can fully execute this plan depends on grassroots supporters like you.

When it comes to Trump, we’ve been here before — and we know what a winning strategy looks like. Just look at what we accomplished together last cycle:

Alyshia Dyer became the first-ever woman elected Washtenaw County sheriff — and she’s already fighting back against Trump’s illegal ICE deportations.
To help stop election deniers in their tracks, our Clerk Work program has recruited hundreds of progressives to our elections offices — and helped 37 of them win this last year!
We’ve had over 40,000 sign-ups in the months after Trump’s election alone — building up the bench with young progressives who, if endorsed, could be what powers a Democratic comeback in 2026.

The results speak for themselves: This moment demands a new class of young, progressive leaders in our school boards, city councils, election boards, and state offices who’ll stop Trump and his allies from the bottom up. And that’s exactly what we plan to do.

This year, we plan on endorsing at least 300 candidates — including in Virginia’s and New Jersey’s state legislative races. And to ensure we can win big everywhere in 2026, we’re aiming to add another 50,000 potential candidates to the RFS pipeline — especially those from underrepresented backgrounds.

We know this plan is an ambitious one — but as Trump and his MAGA allies continue to threaten our basic rights, our education, and our Constitution, making it a reality is a must.

Together, we have the power to stop far-right extremism from taking root in our backyard. We have the power to change the fate of Democrats’ chances from the top of the ticket down in the midterms. And we have the power to ensure the issues that matter most to us are protected — from voting access to free speech, abortion access, and social equality.
