Dear John,

There is only one week left of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, an important moment to raise awareness about the 1 in 3 women globally who will experience violence, including intimate partner violence or rape, in her lifetime, and take action to change the odds for future generations.

At Equality Now, we are supporting strategic litigation and building powerful coalitions across four continents to change sexual violence laws and transform justice systems so that all survivors have access to justice and supportive services. You can help us change the law and make sexual violence unacceptable by donating $25, $50, or more today. ([link removed]) Your gift will help us reach our goal of raising $7,000 to strengthen this essential work.

Equality Now envisions a future where safety and the accountability of perpetrators are non-negotiable, consent is included in the legal definition of rape, and justice is accessible for all – all of which we believe will contribute to women and girls living free from fear of sexual violence. We know from experience that change is possible. Since our founding 30 years ago, we have been elevating survivors’ voices, advocating for stronger legal protections, and transforming justice systems that currently enable sexual perpetrators to escape justice.

In 2024 alone, Equality Now played an integral role in:
* The passage of a comprehensive sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) bill in Busia, Kenya that will offer greater protection to the estimated 177,612 women and girls who will face SGBV in their lifetime.
* The adoption of a law that will offer greater protection to the estimated 897,000 women and girls in Kyrgyzstan who are subjected to violence in the country every year – including additional protections for women and girls with disabilities, who face elevated rates of sexual and physical violence.
* The passage of a law in Colombia setting the minimum age of marriage to 18 without exception. When enacted, this new law will protect the 1.4 million girls and adolescents currently at risk of child marriage and statutory rape in the country.

This is just a small glimpse of what we were able to achieve together last year. Thank you for helping to make this life-changing – and often life-saving – work possible.

John, Equality Now’s work is more important than ever and we are relying on you as a member of our global community to help us continue driving change. ([link removed]) Worldwide, human rights are being undermined, attitudes toward gender equality are shifting, and the victories we worked hard for over the years are at risk. Your gift today will help us remain proactive and agile so that we can continue to make a difference and hold the line against attacks on women’s and girls’ basic human rights. ([link removed])

Thank you for standing with us so far. As experts in the field, Equality Now knows what needs to happen next, but we can’t do it alone – change requires all of us.

In solidarity,
S. Mona Sinha
Global Executive Director

P.S. Your gift of $25, $50, or more will provide essential support, allowing us to continue to drive change to end sexual violence and make the world safer for everyone. ([link removed]) Please help us reach our goal of raising $7,000 with a gift today.
