Donald Trump is threatening to withhold federal funding for Minnesota schools unless we strip away the rights of transgender people.

This is bullying, plan and simple. Trump has issued executive orders to ban trans kids from playing school sports and broadly deny the civil rights of transgender people, and now his administration is trying to punish our state for refusing to comply with his cruel demands.

That’s not just wrong—it’s illegal.

Trump’s executive orders violate the Constitution, Title IX, and Minnesota laws that protect trans youth. And he doesn’t have the authority to cut off federal funding without congressional approval.

Trump is trying to destroy trans kids and punish our state for helping them live and thrive. He won’t stop at one community—when he’s destroyed one, he’ll go after another, and another, and another.

But as the Attorney General of Minnesota, I have the power to say “no” to the Trump administration. I’m using it.

Yesterday, I filed a federal lawsuit to stop these unconscionable attacks on vulnerable children. I’ll use every tool at my disposal to stop Trump’s unconstitutional orders, protect our schools from political retaliation, and uphold the basic rights of transgender people.
