Dear Friend,
We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again: HANDS OFF our care and our
vote!
President Trump and Republicans in Congress are pushing a $4.5 trillion
tax plan that hands massive tax breaks to billionaires and giant
corporations—paid for by gutting programs that are essential for our
families and communities like Medicaid, Social Security, and even Head
Start.
This isn’t just political theater—our access to quality health care,
affordable child care, and even voting (!?!) is at risk.

Unbelievably, our voting rights are also on the line right now. Last week,
the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act—AKA the SAVE Act—passed in
the Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives, and it’s now on to the
U.S. Senate for a vote.
This is not a drill! If passed by the U.S. Senate and signed into law, the
SAVE Act will create huge barriers to voting for more than half of
Americans who do not have passports and 69 million American women who have
changed their names after marriage and whose birth certificates do not
match their current names.
In fact, by requiring all eligible Americans to provide proof of
citizenship by presenting either a passport or a birth certificate, in
combination with a government-issued photo ID, matching your current name
to register to vote, the SAVE Act would negatively impact millions of
voters who might not have all of that documentation handy, including
military voters, rural voters, tribal voters, survivors of natural
disasters, low-income voters, voters from marginalized communities, and
tens of millions of married women in America who have changed their
names.
The result? Millions of eligible voters could be blocked from casting
their ballot.
Listen, community and collective action are the antidote to despair. So in
times like this, we need to come together to stand in our power, together.
It's time to put everything on the table and get organized for how we
fight back and lift our families and communities.
