John, democracy is a muscle: To make it stronger, you have to exercise it.

But right now, Florida state lawmakers are trying to stop citizens from exercising that muscle through aggressive rollbacks on citizen-led democracy.

The Florida legislature is advancing three bills that would make it nearly impossible for ordinary Floridians to introduce amendments to the state constitution.

These barriers are designed not to protect democracy, but to silence it.

These measures would impose excessive fines for even minor violations and drastically shorten petition deadlines — blocking grassroots efforts before they even begin. And the House version of these bills would require a $1 million bond just to begin collecting signatures.

In a state with a proud history of citizen-led ballot initiatives driving meaningful change, these bills would effectively shut down this vital democratic process and silence the voice of everyday Floridians.

Let's be clear about what this really is: the same decades-old tactics to keep power out of the hands of the many and consolidate it in the hands of a few.

All On The Line is organizing Floridians to fight back against this assault on our democracy. Together, we're applying pressure on state lawmakers and raising public awareness about what's at stake.

The fight in Florida is emblematic of what we're seeing nationwide — a coordinated effort by the far right to silence the voice of the people and undermine the foundations of our democracy.

Our affiliate, the National Redistricting Foundation, is currently litigating in five states — including Florida — to dismantle illegal gerrymanders and protect fair maps.

Meanwhile, we're preparing to stop Republicans from potentially stealing more seats in Congress through extreme gerrymandering — including in Ohio, where new congressional maps will be drawn this year.

And we must be prepared to protect the 2030 Census from any efforts to tamper with it, to ensure an accurate count and fair representation.

When I think about these fights, I'm reminded of what it really takes to make history. It's ordinary people refusing to concede their most basic rights who ultimately change the course of our nation.

Today, I’m asking you to be one of those courageous people, John. Will you make a gift to All On The Line to power the work to build a truly representative democracy → [link removed]
