When Ms. magazine launched Women & Democracy in 2021, we sought to create a one-stop-shop for connecting the dots among gender and right-wing extremism and violence, attacks on democracy, and the rise of authoritarianism in the U.S. and around the globe.
We have proudly joined forces with Groundswell Fund and Groundswell Action Fund to create this special Gender & Democracy site dedicated to the work of Groundswell partners in the effort to champion inclusive democracy. Among the stories you’ll find here: in their own words, reflections by and accomplishments of grassroots and local leaders, women of color, Indigenous women, and trans and gender-expansive people whose organizing and work is supported by Groundswell.
By amplifying this chorus of voices—and the solutions advanced, communities served, challenges faced, and victories won—our shared goal for the Ms. x Groundswell site is to demonstrate the myriad ways intersectional organizing makes a difference in advancing democratic principles.
