Republicans in Congress say they’re being fiscally responsible. But let’s be clear about what they’re actually doing:

They’re preparing to gut Medicaid and slash health care for millions of working families, children, and people with disabilities—all because they’re too afraid to stand up to Donald Trump.

And instead of putting up a fight, Republicans are going quiet. No firm demands. No clear red lines. Just complicity.

Let’s not mince words: This is cowardice.

We’re talking about the health care that rural hospitals depend on to keep their doors open. Coverage that lets working families afford their prescriptions. Medicaid expansion that, here in Arizona, has helped hundreds of thousands of people finally get the care they need.

Now extremist Republicans want to rip it all away — and they’re trying to do it quietly, behind closed doors.

As a former mayor, I’ve seen what Medicaid expansion means for real people: fewer emergency room visits, healthier communities, and a stronger safety net for everyone, no matter their zip code.

So here’s what we’re going to do: We’re going to fight back — and we’re going to take back the House. But we need your help to do it.
