John, if you missed our town hall on CNN, let me tell you how the conversation went.

I joined a group of Democratic and Republican House members to discuss the contents of the GOP-led budget proposal. I explained how their proposal would be devastating for public schools across the country, but my Republican colleagues still tried to make this horrendous budget look good — all to appease Donald Trump.

I refused to stay silent about their lies. 

I was a history teacher, John, and I will not let Republicans rewrite ours. This budget would be devastating for our schools, our veterans, and low-income communities. They are trying to defund and gut the services we all rely on so they can pay for tax cuts for the wealthy and well-connected.

This budget leaves vulnerable and hardworking Americans behind. Instead of joining House Democrats as we call out the corruption of Donald Trump and DOGE, Republicans are only concerned with lining the pockets of their wealthy donors.
