John,
I didn’t grow up in Connecticut, but after trading the Florida beaches of my youth for the rocky shores of Long Island Sound, I fell in love with the beauty of our state. |
Whether it’s a walk along the shoreline, a hike through Sleeping Giant, or a ride through the rolling farmland of the Litchfield Hills, Connecticut’s natural beauty is worth protecting.
That protection doesn’t happen by accident. And it’s in peril. Since taking office, Trump has gutted climate protections, rolled back clean energy investments, and put our planet’s future at risk, all to benefit corporate polluters.
While Republicans turn a blind eye to the climate crisis, Democrats are taking action. Here in Connecticut, we’re leading the way by: -
Prioritizing Environmental Legislation: At the start of the 2025 session, environmental legislation accounted for 21.5% of House proposals and 12.5% of Senate proposals. Democrats in the state legislature are focused on climate action and protecting our natural resources.
-
Protecting Connecticut’s Environment: Democrats in the House are advancing a bill that includes more aggressive emission reductions targets; creates new incentives for cities, towns, and businesses to engage in environmentally sustainable projects; prepares workers for future clean jobs; and makes sure we’re using nature-based solutions to help preserve Connecticut’s marshlands and forests. Senate Democrats are taking action too, with a priority bill that will protect pollinators and other wildlife from dangerous poisons and improve resilience from climate change along the coast and our inland waterways.
- Planning for the Future: The updated Plan of Conservation and Development emphasizes climate change as a central factor in future land use and housing decisions.
Our future depends on forward-thinking policies and strong leadership. Will you stand with us this Earth Day? |
Let’s protect the natural beauty and resources that make Connecticut home. Thank you for your commitment to a sustainable future, Adrienne Billings-Smith |
