Team, today is Earth Day, and I’ve been thinking a lot about the future.

That’s what motivates me in this job — the thought of the future we’re building for our children and grandchildren. And that’s why I’m so concerned about the Trump Administration’s assault on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The EPA, at its core, is a science-based public health agency. Their work — from regulating toxic chemicals, to natural disaster response, to preventing air pollution — is all about keeping people safe. The plain truth is that when the EPA doesn’t do its work, people die.

The agency’s mission is to protect our health and the environment. But the Trump Administration makes it clear they just see the EPA as a roadblock for corporations striving to make more money by extracting our natural resources and polluting our air, land, and water in the process. Take a look:

Their mission is plain: they’re firing scientists and decimating public health regulations to increase corporations’ bottom lines. And they’re doing it at the expense of our children, our grandchildren, and frankly, many generations to come.
