Happy Earth Day, John!
Today we celebrate the beauty of our planet and recommit to protecting it. I hope you’re able to get outside today and enjoy this beautiful New York spring day.
And while solidarity and love for nature is most certainly a renewable resource, the truth is that we’re running out of time to take real climate action and prepare New York City for our climate reality. Because the climate crisis isn’t just coming, it’s already here.
New Yorkers see it everywhere – in orange skies blurry with Canadian wildfire smoke, in “once-in-a-generation” storms that flood our subways and homes. We see it in rising temperatures and rising energy costs.
New York City’s next Mayor must not only be a climate champion – but have a real, implementable plan to fight the climate crisis. That’s exactly what I’ll do (and you can read about my plan to prepare NYC for the climate crisis here [[link removed]] .)

John, when I’m Mayor we will reduce our carbon emissions, guarantee access to clean, affordable energy (like solar), create economic opportunities through green jobs and reliable transit, and build more resilient neighborhoods.
In fact, I’m proud to have the strongest record on climate in this race. Please make a one-time contribution of $10 to my campaign to help me take this experience to City Hall. [[link removed]]
On the City Council, I was proud to:
* Lead the successful decade-long fight to ban plastic bags and be instrumental in the city’s Styrofoam ban
* Help pass NYC’s “80 x 50” plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80% by 2050
* Support NYC’s “Dirty Buildings” law to cut large building emissions by 40% by 2030 and 0% by 2050
And as City Comptroller, I’ve been proud to:
* Develop Public Solar NYC to expand rooftop solar and make affordable renewable energy accessible to all
* Lead NYC public pension funds in adopting the most ambitious plan in the country to reach net 0 emissions by 2040
* Push big banks to disclose their fossil fuel vs. clean funding ratios
This Earth Day, I’m asking you to be part of this critical work, John. If you’re ready to help me build a more resilient, affordable, and climate-ready New York, will you chip in to my campaign today? [[link removed]]
