Leadership

Greetings, readers!

For this week’s Leadership newsletter, we examine the ways nonprofit and philanthropic organizations can best prepare for today’s unpredictable legal and political climate.

First, the Council on Foundations issued a call for philanthropic groups to sign a statement of resistance and solidarity on April 9. Since then, nearly 400 organizations have signed. But what does this mean for the sector? Next, philanthropy is famously risk averse. But in times of crisis like today, philanthropic leaders interested in social justice must pursue their missions very differently. Then, an analysis of the March 17th effective shut down of the US Institute of Peace, an independent nonprofit—and how other nonprofits are preparing for possible future attacks. Finally, in times of social and political unrest, nonprofits play an essential role in strengthening democracy through civic engagement.

As always, we welcome feedback. Please feel free to email us at [email protected].
