Dear Friend, |
On the first Earth Day in 1970, there was no Environmental Protection Agency, no Clean Water Act, and no Endangered Species Act. Our rivers were also catching on fire, landfills were overflowing with toxic gases, and our skies were blanketed with deadly smog. People demanded change, and our leaders took action. |
The following year, Earthjustice was founded by a small group of attorneys who believed that the earth needs a good lawyer. In the more than 50 years since, we have used our nation’s bedrock environmental laws to rein in deadly pollution, fight for clean water, help bring endangered plants and animals back from the brink of extinction, advocate for a transition to clean energy, and so much more. |
The Trump administration is waging an all-out attack on the decades of progress we have made, and lawlessly pursuing an agenda that puts our futures at risk. We are fighting back on every front. |
- We have sued the Trump administration for its illegal attempt to expand offshore drilling to every coastline in America.
- We are suing to restore references to climate change Trump removed from government websites.
- We are suing to stop the Trump administration’s attempts to meddle in states’ environmental policies.
- We took the administration to court for freezing federal grants that were earmarked by Congress to benefit farmers and communities across the country.

We are doubling down on our mission this Earth Day: our 220 lawyers are not only fighting back against the assaults but fighting for the progress we need. |
Help us take on these fights with a special Earth Day donation. Give today and your gift will be matched $2:$1. |

This Earth Day serves as a reminder that our bedrock laws exist because no one wants to live in a world where rivers catch on fire, or where our skies and our soil are filled with pollution. |
We are not going back. With you by our side, we will defend those laws and the places and people they were designed to protect. We will continue working toward our ambitious vision of a clean economy that works for everyone, and centers justice. |
In the weeks, months, and years ahead, we will continue to hold the line against this anti-environment administration and make progress where we can. I am so grateful for your partnership. |
