BREAKING NEWS! ANOTHER LION RESCUED FROM A FRENCH CIRCUS
“I have worked on the issue of wild animals in circuses for 16 years, yet I was shocked to see the condition that Jon is in.” - Dr Chris Draper, Head of Animal Welfare & Captivity, Born Free
This is Jon. Emaciated, declawed, and with barely any teeth, he was rescued last week from a circus in France where he was being kept illegally in appalling conditions.
Working with our partners OneVoice and Tonga Terre d’Accueil, we are so thankful he is now free from further exploitation.
Jon is now being rehabilitated in France while legal action is taken to secure his lifetime care. We will then work to find sanctuary space for Jon, hopefully in South Africa.
