John,
Donald Trump’s latest executive order did what we’ve come to expect from him: slash rights, weaken the government, and wage war on the very people who keep this country running. Overnight, federal workers at over 30 critical agencies, from the CDC to the VA, were stripped of their right to collectively bargain.
Unlike private sector unions, federal employee unions can’t bargain over wages or go on strike. What they can do is protect workers from unfair discipline, discrimination, and arbitrary firings. Trump’s executive order didn’t just silence those voices, it made every federal worker easier to intimidate and easier to fire.
These same workers have already faced mass firings under Trump’s leadership. Now, those who remain must do their jobs without the basic protections that come with a union voice. This is a calculated attack on public service and democratic accountability.
There is bipartisan legislation in the House, the Protect America’s Workforce Act, that would undo this executive order and restore collective bargaining rights to thousands of federal employees. Congress must bring it to the floor now.
Tell your representative: vote YES on the Protect America’s Workforce Act and restore the rights Trump tried to erase.
This isn’t about partisanship. It’s about whether we believe in a government that respects its own workforce. Agencies like the FDA, CDC, and Office of Refugee Resettlement need professionals protected from political whiplash and retaliation. They can’t serve the public while under siege.
And with extremists like Elon Musk cheering on Trump’s demolition of our institutions, restoring these rights isn’t just defensive, it’s proactive. It’s how we rebuild a government that works, not just for the wealthy and powerful, but for everyone.
Thousands of workers lost their protections with the stroke of a pen. Let’s fight to bring them back, with the stroke of a vote.
Tell the House: Pass the Protect America’s Workforce Act. Now.
Let’s protect federal workers from Trump authoritarianism.
