john,
One year ago, the Supreme Court ruled that mifepristone—a safe, effective medication used in more than half of all abortions—could remain widely available, despite extremists' attempts to take it off of shelves and out of the hands of medical professionals.
As a doctor, I breathed a sigh of relief when SCOTUS's ruling came in. As a woman, I felt the weight of what we’re still up against. And as your representative, I knew the fight was far from over. Let me be clear: Abortion care is healthcare. It is personal. It is private. And it is not the business of politicians—or judges—to make medical decisions for women.
But Republicans across the country don’t see it that way.
They are passing dangerous, extreme laws—some banning abortion outright, others criminalizing doctors or patients—all in the hopes that one of these cases will land in front of a 6-3 extremely conservative Supreme Court. And what keeps me up at night is that we’re just one case away from losing access again. The mifepristone decision showed us something important: there’s still a line even this Supreme Court won’t cross.
But we cannot count on them to do the right thing next time. We need to fight like women’s lives depend on us—because they do—in Congress, in the courts, and in every single election. That’s why I’m asking: Will you chip in $10, $25, or whatever you can to help us protect abortion rights and take back control of this fight? >> [link removed]
john, I channel my experience as a doctor into this job. I’ve sat with women as they’ve made deeply personal decisions about their health, their bodies, and their futures. I trust women, and I respect their decisions.
But Republicans have made it clear: they don’t. And they won’t stop until they control what we can and cannot do with our own bodies.
We need to organize. We need to elect leaders who trust women. And we need to make sure this fight isn’t left up to judges who see justice through a partisan lens. If you're able to, chip in $5, or anything you can, to join me in this fight. >> [link removed]
With gratitude,
Kim
