Donald Trump is systematically hollowing out our government — replacing career public servants with loyalists who are unqualified, ideological, and in some cases, outright dangerous.

He’s politicized public health, handed power to Elon Musk’s DOGE operation, and already done enormous damage here at home and around the world.

But this week, we proved that public pressure can still make a difference.

The White House just withdrew its nominee to lead the CDC: Dave Weldon, a former Congressman with deep ties to the anti-vaccine movement.

At a time when measles is spreading across the country, it is outrageous that someone who has spent years undermining basic science was ever considered to lead our nation’s top public health agency.

This was a dangerous pick — and we helped stop it. That’s a win. But make no mistake: this won’t be the last reckless nomination, and this administration won’t stop unless we fight back.

As a doctor and a Member of Congress, I’ve spent my career defending public health and evidence-based medicine. And now, as DCCC Frontline Co-Chair, I’m working to elect a Democratic House majority in 2026 that can restore oversight and accountability.
